Creative Stimulus for experiences at Forest School with Jon Cree

"The day was very cold but beautiful and refreshing. It was a joy to be out in the crispy air and to be surrounded by all the range of autumnal colours. It was also great to see Jon again and to share with other Forest School leads from around Hackney the inspiration and wonders that Jon Cree brings."

The full day looked at playing with words and how Forest school can stimulate use of language and metaphor through to more hands on playing with natural materials.  Throughout the day we looked at simple ‘springboards’ for creative interaction with the natural world, sourcing of materials and risk benefit analysis.

Storytelling and Story making at Forest School – stories for the seasons and playing with words.  How story can stimulate craft and play with natural materials

Loose parts and tools.  Working with saws, drills and knives to enable joining together of wood and natural materials – from simple dowelling joints through to chordage and weaving.  Ideas for crafts – from puppets to small furniture!
