#1 Making Music!

Dear parents/carers

We are wishing you all the best during this difficult time.

Tapestry

While we are closed, we will still be making use of Tapestry, to send photos and videos from staff. If you would like to, you can also use Tapestry to upload photos or videos of what you are up to!

We will also be sending out a weekly ‘challenge’ every Monday for you to participate in if you wish. Again you can upload photos or videos to let us know how you get on!

If you have any problems logging in to your Tapestry account, please reply to this and we can help you out.

Weekly challenge #1: Making Music!

For all ages! Can you make your own drum, shaker, or other instrument?

See the attached document, or this link: https://www.learningliftoff.com/make-homemade-music-with-these-6-diy-instruments/  for some ideas but be creative with what you’ve got at home!

Upload a photo or video on to Tapestry of the music you make.

At nursery, we sing nursery rhymes every day, and run regular ‘Boogie Mites’ sessions using home-made instruments, scarves and other props, shaking, drumming and doing actions along to the songs, see this link for music and movement ideas you can do at home together: https://teaching2and3yearolds.com/music-and-movement-activities-for-toddlers-and-preschoolers/

As well as being fun, this develops children’s coordination, auditory-memory and being able to discriminate different sounds, a crucial part of early literacy! You can use your instruments to make your singing at home more fun/noisy!

Unfortunately we can’t share the Boogie Mites songs we use at the centre because of copyright, but some of them are available online. Otherwise, any song will do
